Please, I need your advice… I’m having troubles with my Front Page and I’m almost sure that due to a memory issue I can’t enter to “EDIT” it, but well, I will continue searching which is the solution, for now this is not my question here…

So, due to this problem I have tried to find a solution, and one of the possible solutions I’ve found is “just” to “duplicate” my Front Page (with the Duplicate Page Plugin), so making this I can enter to edit this ‘new’ duplicated Front Page without any problems… ??

My doubt begin like this: My Front Page has the following address: https://gmc-peru.com/ and “it has already a SEO Ranking” (because of the time it has on the internet, and some others little things I have done like yoast, google location, etc.), and also inside of my WordPress I can see in the “STATS” item due “all the visits that my Front Page have had the last year”

So my question is the following: If I “duplicate” my Front Page (and delete the original one…) Will I LOSE ALL THE VISITS THAT I HAVE HAD in a year?, “MY SEO IN MY FRONT PAGE”?, THE STATS BEGIN AGAIN FROM ‘0’ again??? Or the SEO and visits done in my Front Page depends only in my domain? (https://gmc-peru.com/) Because as far as I know,
in the sub pages (like posts, etc), if you create another one you lose the SEO of the first one and stars all over again? Am I wrong? I’m really confused… What more you can tell me about this?

    Please I need your advice…

Thank you a lot in advance!

  • SEO rankings are attached to URLs, not to actual WordPress pages or posts. This is true of any site, regardless of what it’s built on.

    Thank you @kjodle!

I have seen you answer just now!

So, is clear that this means that I can “duplicate” my Front Page, because the URL will continue the same (https://gmc-peru.com/)… Isn’t it?

And what about the “SLUG”? in my Front Page “it never changes” right? But in all the other subpages can change… May I change it?

But I still have one doubt please… I have made the experiment with another subpage that I have, so I’ve duplicate it and in the ‘new one’ all THE STATS (BY YOAST SEO) have disappeared! and have started all over again… The Yoast Stats are another indicator? Or they have to do with the SEO? As I can see the Stats in Yoast, is there another place where I can see the SEO ranking of each of my URL’s or pages?

    Thanks a lot again!
