    I can see there is a checkbox to enable insurance in the shipping calculation. But this appears to be chosen by the website and does not give the option to the client.

    Is there a way to enable insurance and therefore provide the client with the option to whether apply insurance to the shipping or not, case by case?

    The insurance option is designed from the perspective of the shop owner. Once checked in the settings page, it will enable this for all customers.

    Unfortunately, there is no option to choose insurance option from cart/checkout page.
