Featured Pages text on Home Page

You could add more control over the content displayed on the home page by utilizing the excerpt field. However, by default, the excerpt does not display within the page editor. So, you would need to add the following code to your functions.php file:

/**
 * Adds the excerpt field to pages.
 */
function gpp_add_excerpts_to_pages() {
	 add_post_type_support( 'page', 'excerpt' );
}
add_action( 'init', 'gpp_add_excerpts_to_pages' );

Then, within the page editor you can add content to the excerpt field that will display on the home page.

Hi. Thank you for your response. I didn’t want to alter the parent theme. So I added the code you provided to my child theme functions.php but it didn’t work. However, I was able to resolve the issue by creating a site-specific plugin and then adding ‘excerpt’ code to that plugin. Not sure if either method is better/leaner. But I found the info on these articles.
