• I absolutely love webcomic and have used it a ton. I see that it hasn’t updated in over 2 years and was wondering if it is dead.

Would love to know. Keeping my eye open for it’s future replacement may be in my best interest if so.

Hey cookrite. Thanks for using Webcomic; I’m glad you love it!

Short Answer: Webcomic is not dead. The current version works with WordPress 4.8, and I’m actually (slowly, quietly) working on a major update right now (to be released as soon as I can finish the damn thing).

Slightly Longer Answer: Webcomic has gone so long without an update mostly for boring life-related reasons. It’s never been left for dead; it’s just been on an extended, unplanned hiatus. That technically ended about this time last year when I finally started working on a new version, but it’s taking a lot longer than I’d hoped (partially because of ongoing life-related reasons, and partially because doing a major update that actually doesn’t explode a bunch of sites is tough). Development continues, though; Webcomic has not been abandoned.

That’s awesome to hear. Thanks for getting back with me on this.

I completely understand the distraction of life. I greatly appreciate you not letting it go. It’s a great plug-in and I look forward to seeing what you deliver in the future.

    Thanks!

I’m glad to hear it’s not “dead” as well having just chosen it for our webcomics. Though I must say I actually prefer simple plugins that do what they need to and don’t get bloated with feature creep. Thanks for doing what you do.

    Thanks jaysinb!

I think you’ll like Webcomic 5; I’m not really adding (too many) features. The main focus is refactoring the entire plugin so that it runs better and is easier to maintain going forward. I’d actually like to move some of Webcomic’s features into separate plugins (the Twitter integration, for example), but it’s almost impossible to untangle everything right now (which is a big part of what I’m working on).
