Quick perhaps non-obvious question. Does Simple Membership let me restrict access to a group of people without using the payment functionality?

I have an online and print magazine and payment happens elsewhere. I’d like to upload basic user info into Simple Membership periodically and have the plugin allow these subscribers to see restricted content. Restricted access also is binary: a limited amount of content is visible to anyone but most of the content is available only to subscribers of my magazine. There are no fancy multiple groups.

Thanks for any help. The documentation is not clear on this point, or somehow I missed it.

Hi, you have to make sure these members belong to a membership level if you have content protection enabled in a post or page.

    Thanks!

To be 100% clear, the payment process and the upload process both update users and the plugin uses that data, from both sources, to determine access rights? The payment process itself has nothing to do with determining access; the output of payment is user data and that data is then added by the plugin to be used to determine access rights?

I have a lot of subscribers and want to be sure what will happen if I add users without going through the payment process for each of them. Appreciate your patience.

Hi, you can add any amount of members without payment. This would be considered free membership. Although in your case these members are paying via other means.

So lets say they are currently members of your site via the WordPress registration process. Now you would like to import these WordPress members into Simple Membership members area for better management. If this is the case, then you can use the following plugin to import your current WP members.

Let me know if you need more help or information.

    Kind regards
