• [Moderator note: moved to Fixing WordPress sub-forum]

Several times each session while trying to use the admin side of WordPress, I keep getting a browser prompt (IE11): “This webpage wants to run the following add-on: ‘Apple’ from ‘Apple Inc.’. What’s the risk?” with options: Allow, Allow for all websites, X

Everytime, I have to click that X to ignore the prompt. This is ridiculous. I don’t want to install whatever it is, likely the Apple QuickTime viewer. I don’t need that and nothing on the administrative page of WordPress needs that.

Pressing the F12 key and debugging the page, it looks like a JavaScript file pulled from https://rules.quantcount.com is trying to load some ActiveX object related to “Business Landing Page”, wordpress.com/business, “Brand Everywhere Landing Page”.

How can we adjust this to stop the nagging?

  • I would try deactivating all plugins, log out, and log back in to see if you get the same prompt.

If the prompt goes away, you know it’s related to one of them, activate the plugins one by one, log out and back in after each to track down the plugin in question.
