• I have enabled comments on my posts, but unless I actually click on the title of the post, I cannot see the comment option. For example, on a new post, there is no comment field unless I click on the title and see the url of the post. If I click on that and go to a previous post, the comment box is there. If I just click to the previous post arrow from the current post, I will not get the comment box.
If I then click on the title of that post, all the previous posts will have a comment box. Perhaps I am not understanding something or have a wrong setting somewhere. This is the case with Twenty Seventeen, although I am using Nirsag theme. Is there a change that I can make? Do most users besides me know that you need to click on the post title to get the fully functioning version?
    Thanks for your help

  • It sounds like you have your blog page set to display the full post and you are viewing the post on the blog page. When you click the title you are actually going to the single page (full post) and the comments are available on the single page.

That makes sense, but which settings should I use so that the post shows up as a single page? Should I not use Home/Front page as the place where recent blog posts appear?
    Thanks for your quick response.

If you go to WP Settings >> Reading >> For each article in a feed, show

you should see you have selected “Full Text”, if you change it to “Summary” and click “Save Changes” at the bottom, you will see each of your posts now has a shortened version with a link informing you viewers to click for the full post.

Thanks for the suggestion. I already had summary checked for the feed and it makes no difference. Perhaps I should look for a plugin that will show my latest post as a front page. Or maybe there is another easy solution.

Can you share the site address?

Sometimes it’s easier to troubleshoot the actual site.
