• Hi there,

We have a strange error on a client’s website that seems to have come from nowhere as it wouldn’t appear to coincide with any updates or other activity on the site. In short, almost all the forms are giving an error on submission (There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.)

An example form with this error can be found here https://www.bridgewateruk.com/graduate-job-guide-sign-up/

Strangely, this form works okay on a staging environment so I wondered if it may be a caching issue, but I’ve also excluded this example page from caching altogether (using Cloudflare) on the live site now to test that theory, but still no luck.

    What I’ve tried so far:

    – Disabled all other plugins
    – Switched to default theme
    – Recreated a form from scratch

None of the above have worked so I’m pretty stuck with what’s going on here! Our web host suggested mentioning whether cookies may be the issue, but they weren’t able to see anything specific.

Also worth mentioning that core and the CF7 are up to date.

Any help you can give is much appreciated!

The staging site, if needed, can be found here

  • I have exactly the same problem here. My case differs slightly though. I have reCAPTCHA installed, if I remove the [recaptcha] shortcode from the form, I can send it. If i keep the shortcode, same error as yours happens.

Just to add to this, we don’t have reCAPTCHA installed. We have Contact Form 7 Honeypot, but I’ve deactivated it in case that was the cause, but it made no difference.

    Hi Josh

Do you have any Caching or Minifying Plugins or Functions active? I was using autoptimize and this caused the problem with reCAPTCHA in the frontend area.

I know it isn’t exactly the same problem that you are having.

    Cheers.
