Using a company name instead of user name on profile page

  • Hi all,

    Is it possible to use a company name instead of the users first and last names in the profile page header – the text to the right of the profile image, under the main image?

    On my site I need to have both individual members and business members so I would like to use the business name if possible.

    Hi @designsynergy,

    It is possible to change User Display Name in Ultimate member -> Settings -> User, however, it will be changed it for all users. I’m afraid, you can’t change it for individual users/roles at the moment.

    Thanks for the response.

    I’ve found a work around for the problem. I realised that UM uses the ‘first name’ and ‘last name’ form fields to populate the profile title under the main image and after testing established that it would also work with just the ‘first name’.

    I then setup the business register form with a standard ‘first name’ field and deleted the ‘last name’ field. I then gave the ‘first name’ field a new title ‘company name’ but left the default meta key value ‘first_name’.

    This results in the company name being displayed on the profile instead of the first name and last name of the member.

    As I said, it’s just a work around and I think that building this option into a future version of UM would enhance the plugin.
