• I followed the upgrade instructions to a “T”

Found out my site (Including The Admin CPanel) disappeared on me

Is it me or is this upgrade buggy or is it still in the beta stages and not stable as yet? Did I upgrade too soon? Is it still in it’s beta stages or something????

Cause trust me on this…there is nothin wrong with my PC and I followed your instructions to a T…only thing I can honestly think of is that it is buggy…

    No offense

  • It’s not buggy. My upgrade went just fine and no it’s not in beta stage… 2.7 has been being tested for months. Common sense says they wouldn’t tell you to upgrade to a beta version.

Make sure there are no odd characters or spaces at the beginning or end of your wp-config.php. That will often cause blank pages. Also, deactivate plugins (delete them through FTP if you can’t access your admin panel) and see if that fixes it.

I did as u suggested and that didn’t help…it is still the same blank – to be honest I upgraded twice…my site disappeared…blank site now

Just install back 2.6.5 … your site will be running like before.

can you check your web server error log for any php errors.

are you using wp-cache plugin or any plugin which caches your files ??? if yes then deactivate this plugin and make sure to delete all cache files.

I’ve had horrible problems with this upgrade also despite following instructions. I’ve been using WordPress for a bunch of sites and for a long time and have upgraded MANY times. I have never had a single issue. This has been a mess this time.

The Admin doesn’t work at all – as in, when you save anything the admin disappears – entirely. I have to type in the URL to the Admin to get it back. Changes are not reflected in the Admin but show on the site. If I navigate to another area of the admin and come back to where I had been making changes, the changes magically appear.

I also had my entire site disappear – the database suddenly could not be found after I had attempted to add a widget to a sidebar that was working perfectly before the upgrade. It was just a standard widget, not a plugin or anything – yikes!

I’ve been all over the codex looking to see if I missed something but there’s no help. I’m sure there’s a line of code that needs to be somewhere to make this thing happy but I have no idea what that might be.

I did get the site to find it’s database and it’s visually OK but trying to add or edit content is a complete nightmare.

I attempted to roll back to 2.6.5 but that didn’t work either. I’m thinking of making another attempt at that and see if I can get this thing to be useable.

AND, yes, it is a mess no matter what theme I’m using and regardless of plugins. It had occured to me that it was some weird thing in a plugin or in a custom theme. I’ve had an entire festival of troubleshooting and am no better off than when I started.

    SO FRUSTRATING!!!

If anyone has any clue as to what might make the admin and database hate each other so much I’d be very appreciative of a push in a right direction toward making them happy again. I do love WordPress and am shocked at this behavior ??

    claudiasnell,

you have posed general issues with no specifics…

The Admin doesn’t work at all – as in, when you save anything the admin disappears – entirely.

what do the servers’s error logs say when this happens?

When I make changes in the admin the page reloads as a blank white page – nothing there. Blank. Gone. I retype part of the URL and reload, the admin magically reappears.

The error logs state an issue with “safe url” and some file/line numbers but when I try to find it in the code, there doesn’t appear to be anything that looks like it would be a culprit.

I’ll probably just roll back to a version that works. This one is obviously not working for a lot of people if the forums are any indication.

too vague. you need to paste error messages.

wordpress 2.7 has been downloaded nearly 1 million times.

will hit that mark easily this month. This is a support forum not a “its working” forum. You lack perspective.

    Best of luck.

Whooami – not helpful. It’s frustrating when things go wrong – and it doesn’t matter how many downloads there are. If something isn’t working, it’s not working.

I’m all set now. It was an issue with my host. Everything is great now.
I threw in the comment about it not working for many because I’ve gotten tired of replies like your “WordPress 2.7 has been downloaded a billion million times… ” Not helpful. Thanks anyway.
