WP-Cron deactivated and substituted by cron job on the server

I deactivated wp-cron.php because it was causing an excessive use of CPU on the server. I substituted wp-cron with a real cron job on the server with CPanel.
My providers only allows cron jobs with timing larger than half an hour, but it seems to me that The Newsletter Plugin requires a cron job every five minutes.
Is it possible to use this plugin with a cron job set every 30 minutes? How should I set the delivery engine to get working in those conditions?
