After following the upgrade instructions I am unable to see the left hand nav in the control panel. In the Dashboard I only see “Right Now” “Recent Comments” etc. I have no way of getting to settings etc. Could this be caused by bad/incompatible plugins I may have used in 2.6.5? I am also running the latest thesis theme.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Your blog theme should have nothing to do with it. I’d try re-uploading your files to see if maybe one was missed. If that doesn’t help, try deactivating some plugins. You can either delete/rename/move them via FTP, or just manually type in [your_wp-admin_URL]/plugins.php to get to the plugins administration page.

AWESOME!!! Thank you for the quick response!

It was the Ozh’ Admin Drop Down Menu plugin

I had the same problem – resolved by deactivating

    Lighter Menus 2.7.5 https://www.italyisfalling.com/lighter-menus

    Thanks for the tip, Mark.

I moved to 2.6.5 and lost the nifty left-hand menu – it’s all back to words along the top. I used to have the dropdown menu plugin but deleted it when I went up to 2.6.3.

Admin pages had words across the top before I reactivated any plugins. It looks just like oldstyle WordPress now. I was just getting used to that left menu (and recolored it green so I could see it).

    Any fix ideas?

I had the same problem. I deleted the file for Lighter Menus 2.7.5, and now I have a left-hand column.

    Thank you!

I also had the same problem and learned from you guys, thanks alot.

My settings administration panel has disappeared. I have checked my plug-ins, but I only have akismet loaded.

We have migrated wordpress from our server on site to a remotely hosted server and a number of the settings e.g. media library upload etc. need changing, but without access to the settings administration panel I am struggling.

Anyone got some suggestions as to possible fixes?

    Thanks.
