    Hello @mintaras,

Can you reply with the URLs to your category and category feed in question so we can take a look? Are you using custom post types or pages for your podcast episodes, or regular blog posts?

    Thanks!

    Hi @amandato

I am using custom post type (podcast)
    Default feed: https://www.walterlernt.ch/podcast/feed/podcasts
Category feed: https://www.walterlernt.ch/podcast/feed/podcasts?category_name=unser-blog OR https://www.walterlernt.ch/unser-blog/feed/ (same category, just different permalink structure and it gives different results?)

    Thanks

    Hello @mintaras,

Okay this makes sense, post type podcasting does not mix with blog post categories. Though you can use blog post (post type of type “post”) categories with custom post types, the category feeds on WordPress will only use the posts of type “post” for the category feeds. As far as PowerPress adding podcast support in different ways, there are 4 ways and they are specific, they cannot be crossed together.

Category podcasting – Uses the post type “post” and can extend the category feed to include a special podcast only feed.

Podcast Channels – Uses the post type “post” and allows you to add multiple feeds using the same blog posts. This is useful for multiple media formats, like an audio feed and a video feed.

Post Type podcasting – uses a custom post type and allows you to add a special feed slug to that post type. Multiple feed slugs achieves the same result as podcast channels. Post type podcasting is specific to that post type.

Taxonomy podcasting – uses a custom taxonomy (taxonomies is how categories is created for post type “post”). Unlike categories that are very strict, taxonomies can be defined in many different ways, which makes it very difficult to control. For example, we cannot provide ea podcast only feed for taxonomy podcasting because it is possible you could put the same podcast episode into multiple taxonomies. Because of this, Taxonomy podcasting is the least flexible format to podcast, but in some cases, may be the only option due to a complex formatted website.

You need to pick one of these 4 methods.

Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish? I can advise what may be the best way to approach the problem?

Also, you are using the slug name “podcast” for a post type, which will conflict with the feed using the slug “podcast”. If you are not far into your design of your website, I would change this post type from “podcast” to something else, which is a great opportunity to think of the slug name in terms of SEO as well. e.g. “football-series” may be a better slug name for the podcast post type.

If you cannot change the post type slug name from “podcast” to something else, then please go to PowerPress settings > website tab, near the bottom there is an option to allow for page/category with the slug name “podcast”, enable that option it will also work for the post type. This is less desirable way to approach the problem as you technically should not use the same slug names for different purposes in WordPress. This is the same problem if you tried to add a page or post type called “feed” or “atom”, registered feed slug names.

    Hi @amandato,

I cannot change my post type slug name.
This are the options I have enabled: https://www.walterlernt.ch/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Screen-Shot-2017-06-14-at-16.33.16.png

Is there anything we can do to show those enclosures/media attachments on category feed pages?

    Thanks

The problem is category feeds in WordPress use the post type “post”. There may be a way to modify the SQL queries to use additional post types with the category feeds. Essentially what you want is to have “posts” and “podcast” post types combined into your category feeds.

Is there a reason you are using a custom post type for your podcast? Usually podcasters have no problem mixing their blog posts with podcast episodes since usually the episodes complement the blog.
