  • Thank you for using Custom Sidebars. I am sorry to hear you are having a hard time with the update. I just tested on my site and it appears to be working as it should. Check to make sure you are working from the Archive section which is located bellow the individual post category settings. If you continue to experience this problem could you share a link with us so we can take a closer look and perhaps a screenshot with the settings you are using?

I’ll be looking for your reply. Thanks again.

I’m having the same issue.. WP v4.8, Genesis Magazine child theme. I don’t want the sidebar on the archive pages, just on single post pages for specific categories. It was working fine before updating.

    Thanks for your help

    Hello @nuketunguska,

just on single post pages for specific categories. It was working fine before updating.

In this case you will not use what @jdailey pointed on the screenshot, but above option “For all Single Entries…” and then “As Sidebar for selected categories”.
Are you using this option right now?

    kind regards,
    Kasia

The Custom Sidebar behavior has changed with the recent update.
I have defined a sidebar to appear “For Archives” and selected a specific category under the “Category Archives” tab. In the past, the sidebar appeared on that category’s archive pages as well as the archive pages of all the sub-categories of that category. Now, the sidebar no longer appears on the sub-category archive pages. I have to specify each sub-category in the “Category Archives” tab.

While exploring the issue I submitted above, another problem arose: I defined the sidebar to appear “For Archives” and under “Archive Types” selected the “Category Archives” type. When I tried to remove this definition by unclicking the “As sidebar for selected archive types” and <Save>, the definition remains. I can add other archive types and delete them, but I can’t delete the “Category Archives” type nor remove the sidebar from pages with Archive Type=Category.
I tried to create a new test sidebar, and set it to appear “For Archives” and under “Archive Types” with Category Archives chosen. I can’t delete this definition from the new test sidebar, but this does remove that “sticky” definition from my working sidebar.
I’ll just delete the test sidebar to clean up my site, but this looks like a bug.

Thank you for using Custom Sidebars. We just released a new version with some fixes to the category feature. Let us know if you encounter any issues.
