Mass Category add / Remove

  • Hello,

    I used to use an addon called Batch Categories it allowed you to mass remove or add a single category from posts.

    This addon does not work in 2.7 But I understand that this feature may be already in 2.7.

    But I cant figure it out anywhere. Basically from what i can tell its all or nothing on the batch category editing in 2.7 .

    or is there an addon out there anyone knows of that will allow me to do this with ease?

    May have to downgrade to 2.6 and use your Batch Categories plugin to do what you need to do, then upgrade again to 2.7 – yeah, I know, not the best solution.

    Man that bites. is the mass edit system supposed to support batch category editing? And can you Downgrade to 2.6 from 2.7?

    Anyone else have any ideas how to do a Mass Remove or add of a category in WP 2.7

    Remember the catch is a Mass Add / Remove but leaving all the other categories the articles are tied to intact.

    This use to work with an addon called Batch Categories

    Gonna Bump this again. Still looking.

    I need a solution to this as well.

    In 2.7

    Go to the edit posts view.
    Select the posts.
    Click “bulk action” change to “edit” click “apply”.

    Check the categories you want.
    Click “update posts”.

    I believe at present it works in the way you want – I.E. existing cats will not be removed.

    Bulk Edit Posts in 2.7 has limitations:

    “It is important to note, at least with Version 2.7, that Categories and Tags can be ADDED in bulk to a set of Posts, but it is not possible to CHANGE, or DELETE, a Category, or Tag, for those Posts.”

    Exactly and that is what im looking for a solution. I want to be to remove bulk categories from posts with out disturbing the existing ones.

    I am having the same problem. I loved the Batch Category plug-in. I sure wished it would work on WP 2.7. I hope to hear about a fix, update or workaround.

    i bulk edited via WP but now all my posts are in 2 categories :'(

    See even more so the reason to either have this fixed into WP 2.8 or someone make an addon.

Tags
