  • Which language? Or is it all non-English (or non-SomeLanguage) translations?

    Hi

    Language is French

As mentioned in my post, everything is translated (including dates) except in the event list popup where dates are in english.

    Kind regards

    Hey @tnkaoua and @johngoold-1!

Thanks for posting about this issue.

@tnkaoua, the frontend of the calendar should be fully translated. Could we take a closer look at the problem? Please contact our team directly using this form.

Also make sure to indicate the link to this forum thread in your message. Our development team will take a look at the issue as soon as possible, and we’ll post the solution here.

    Thanks! Have a good day!

    Hi

I cannot give you access to the calendar, it is on a private and confidential website.

Here is a copy of the popup window where the issue appears.

This happens when you open an event on a day with several events, and then click on “go back to all events” inside the popup window.

    Kind regards

    Hi @tnkaoua!

We checked the plugin translation on one of our test websites, but it was running properly. Are you able to duplicate your website (theme and plugins) to a test directory, where we can check?

Also, do you use any translation plugins on your site?
    Thanks! Have a good day!

    Hi

Here is the process to see the bug.

    – Create 2 events on the same day
    – Click “En savoir plus” (should be “Show more” in english) in the month view calendar
    – See the non translated dates

    Or:
    – click on the first event that is shown in the month view calendar
    – In the popup window, click on “Retour à la liste des évènements” (In english, it should be “Back to events list”)
    – See the non translated dates

Here is a test calendar page:
    https://photostudiotnk.com/test
The 2 events are setup on 2017 May 23

I do not use any translation plugin.

The bug appears on this test calendar on my professional Website, it appears also on another private protected website, with a different theme.

    Kind regards

    Hi @tnkaoua!

I asked our developers check your calendar page. They would like to look into the problem, since it seems to be specific to your website.

Would you be able to share your screen using TeamViewer? If so, please send us a message using this contact form, and send the link to this thread.

We will take a look ASAP, and share the solution here.
    Thanks! Have a great day!

    Hi

Sorry, but my security policy does not allow to use remote control as Teamviewer, and I do not understand what part of my server and config files you need to access.

I can provide you any screen copy you need, of my config files or anything else.

    The WordPress Language is French.

Everything is OK for translation, except on this screen:
    https://photostudiotnk.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=spiderseemore&theme_id=13&calendar_id=1&ev_ids=1,2&date=2017-05-23&many_sp_calendar=1&widget=0&TB_iframe=1&tbWidth=600&tbHeight=500

And I find it a bit strange that the title of the page is well translated (Mai in french and not May) and that the dates inside the events are fully in English.

    Kind regards

    Hi @tnkaoua!

We understand the issue, we noticed it on the link you have sent previously. The problem is, that it’s not a global bug and we are not able to replicate it on our end.

I personally have changed WordPress language to French on a couple of our test sites, but the popup was translated properly.

The reason we need to have a look is that the problem is unique on your website. It might be a conflict with website configurations.

    Thanks!

    Hi

I have setup a test website, the only plugin is Calendar, and I will use your contact form to send you the address, and you will have wordpress admin privileges on this website.

Meanwhile, I noticed a bad design issue:
If you chose “Month view”, either you show only the days in the chosen month, either you show some days before and after (which is the case) and you MUST show the events on the days outside the month.
You cannot chose a view definition for the calendar itself and another definition for the events inside the view.
This issue is very (very) misleading people sharing a calendar.

Other translations issues and design questions:

    – in week and list view: why do you put the date between parenthesis after the day and in another font and color? (not a bug, but a strange design)

    – in list view, the date between parenthesis is in “day month” order, that is the setup of my wordpress for dates, and this is OK, except the strange parenthesis.

    – but in week view, the same dates elements are put the other way round in “month day” order, which is not the setup of my wordpress websites, and which is not the way french people read the dates.

    – and in day view, again parenthesis, wrong “month day” order, and now the Year appears…

Maybe I am a bit painful for dates formats, but what I expect for a calendar is a unique date format throughout the entire calendar and the format must be the one I have chosen for WordPress.
The absence of all events in the month view, including those that are not for that month is, for me, a serious issue.

    Regards

Regarding tnkaoua’s comments on the User Interface, I have a two comments (I only use the month view, so have little experience with the week and list views).

I have no issue with only showing events for the month selected (month view) as I can trivially view the preceding or following month if I want to see those events. However, I was surprised the extra days being displayed did not show events. There are two solutions: (1) Show events for those days; (2) Leave those days totally blank (i.e. don’t show the date in the spaces for days outside the current month being displayed).

I too feel that date formats should be consistent throughout. If a short format is used (one that only shows numbers for the day, month and year), I have a very strong preference for the ISO date format (YYYY-MM-DD with other acceptable separators).

    Cheers,
    JRG

This is exactly what I meant! ??

For dates format, what I expect is that any plugin respects the choice that is made in WordPress configuration.

    Hi @tnkaoua!

I am happy to inform you, that our development team has resolved the problem on your website. They have replaced “Date” strings with the following in /spider-event-calendar/functions_for_xml_and_ajax.php file of your website:

    _('Date, 'sp_calendar')

Could you please have a look? Let me know in case there’s anything else we can assist you with.
Thank you! Have a great day!

    (@tnkaoua)

    Hi

There was only ONE thing to change in functions_for_xml_and_ajax.php:

    Replace
    $start_day = date($format_date, strtotime($row->date));
    by
    $start_day = $activedatestr;

All your other modifications, replacing “date” by “journee” are hardcoded translation, and by the way very bad french translations. And it is absolutely useless to write “date” before a… date!!

So the initial bug is solved, I already have made the 1 line modification on my private website.

It remains the (very) bad layout in month view, where all events should appear (or not show other days outside the month).

For French translation, I will make it right in the .po file when I have some time, and I will send you the updated .po and .mo file.

    Regards
