• Hi all,

I have done my best to resolve this before posting on here; I apologize if this is a very nominal question/issue but i do hope someone can help me as im at a crossroads and cannot find the soliution anywhere.

Issue: I have installed my blog on my iPad; hosted on bluehost.
All was going very well. I installed a theme but not all of the pictures installed (im not sure why?).In an attempt to remedy this I tried to import the same theme from my very rickety laptop but it warned me that it would overwrite what i already had on my blog.

Needless to say i did not want to do this. But now im at a quandary.
Do i continue with my iPad; i.e. Will an iPad not offer me all the functionalities that a laptop would or does it not matter?

Can i update my blog from two devices without overwriting what i have currently installed?

    Many Thanks in advance,
    RO

To be clear, you have *not* installed WordPress on your ipad. You’ve installed an application that lets it talk to your WordPress site on bluehost. Operationally, that’s not really different than having it open in a browser.

If you have a theme already installed and upload a new copy, it will overwrite what’s already there, regardless of what client ( ios app or browser ) you use to access your WordPress site.

    Thanks Steve for your reply.

What you say makes sense. What I was probably trying to ask was, the content (my first test post, permalinks etc.); will that be wiped?

My main concern is to build a quality blog from the start and wondering if im going down the wrong road with the first install from my iPad. I really only use my iPad these days and do not want to invest in a new laptop just for this but i will if i have to.

    Thanks again,

You can continue to manage your site from your iPad or from the browser on your iPad. A laptop is not necessary. (Though I’d certainly suggest a keyboard.)

    That’s reassuring and I do have a keyboard ??

Would you recommend the fresh install from the laptop though to inject all the demo content and then maintain from the ipad? Again would that wipe my permalinks/first post content?

This leads me to a few questions:
1.Can you ever import a new theme or are you stuck with the first one you go with?
    2. The demo content is packed with stuff. Its very over whelming; what’s the benefits of going with the demo content rather than the bones of the theme?

    Thanks for your help

Again, it doesn’t matter whether you’re controlling the system from your iPad or your laptop.

You can always change themes later.

Demo content helps you visualize the site so it’s up to you whether to view the demo elsewhere for inspiration or load it all and then throw away what you don’t want.
