When I try to update the plugin, I get a permissions error:

“Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.”

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m pretty sure plugin authors don’t have control over plugin file permissions; that’s usually a result of manual vs automatic updates or someone making changes via ftp. Or if you make changes via a hosting file manager or some other tool.

I double checked my permissions and since they were different than my other plugins, I changed them. I thought this might do it. I even disabled my sucuri auditing plugin to see if may be that was restricting access somehow, but no luck.

I am seeing however, that in my file managment, the user of this plugin is set to an admin user while my other plugins are set to apache.. I’m not sure what that means. Could that be the issue?

I still can’t update and am receiving the error message “unable to copy files”.

Ok I do actually remember that I installed this plugin manually. So I removed it and reinstalled from the WP dashboard and it worked. All set thanks for the tip!
