    Hi there,

I’m still confuse about using SportPress plugin for our Baseball League.
We do have Clubs having multiple teams based on age categories. The League used to organize multiple competitions for each age categories each season.

Are SportsPress “Teams” mean “Clubs” in that case, and our “age categories” defined with specifics “Competitions”, like “<Club name>” SportsPress team and “Under 15” SportPress competition?
So basically any Club member from any ages are part of the SportsPress team, and then dispatch into different competitions?

Or is “Clubs” term does not exist in this plugin, and should I create a team for each “Club/Age category” couple, like “<Club name> – Under 15” and “<Club name> – Adult”?

Thanks in advance for the clarification.
    Cheers,
    Nicolas.

  • It is confusing because when you look at the Sportspress tutorials the “Add Team” tutorial doesn’t look anything like the actual “Add Team” page in Sportsprtess – in fact it looks like the “Add Club” page.

I’m not sure what “Teams” do in Sportspress (as I’ve said, the video is useless). A team has no attributes other tham a name (as far as I can tell). Whilst you may add a player to a “Team” on the Player page you are actually adding that player to a club.

We create a club for each age group we have so for instance AFC Hornchurch U19, AFC Hornchurch U15 etc etc.

In one of the other plug-ins you specify the club and each of the teams under it e.g. First team, Reserves, Under 18 etc but Sportspress doesn’t appear to work like that.

    Thanks for your feedback Andy.
So if a player can play in multiple category you assign it to each club/team?

It would be great to have SportsPress team advising on this subject too ??

    Nicolas

    Hi Nicolas!

    Thanks for reaching out!

In your case you can have multiple teams or just use player lists inside of the same team to separate them depending on the competition or age group.

Club and Team are the same entity in the backend, these are 2 terms used for the same thing in our plugin.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Roch,

So I realize that player lists have a very strong role in this plugin which give us lot of flexibility but not easy to understand at the beginning.
I’d suggest to update documentation with real life examples ??

    Cheers,
    Nicolas.

Oh yes! I also had the same problem to understand how to differentiate between teams of different categories. Conceptually, a club is not a team, but we can solve it creating different lists of players of the same club sorting “competitions” in the player list editor without creating different names for each team in the same club.

(sorry for my english, from Italy)

    Hi!

Yeah, you’ve got it right ??

No worries at all about your english, it’s pretty good actually ??

    Thanks!

    Kind Regards,
    -Roch
