• We to installed WF on many of our sites. it worked great for about 3 weeks. Then WF made an update.. Thats a good thing. But the Update Broke our sites and all the other Sites on Network Solutions Host. SO NSI is now recommending Removing WF as it is bugged.

It took us 2 days to correct the issues WF caused. Wordfence is having some issue with File permission and thus after it updates itself it then locks all the file permission down so no one can see your site pages. Once we figured this out we had to fully restore our sites via Backup with the Word Fence Folder Renamed or removed.

This allows the system to rebuild the files and then move on. I did bring up the issue with the Plug in Creator but he simply told me to start my own thread in his pages.!!. Even though I was on the Thread talking about his last update crashing sites!.

IT seems The author does not respect our time. Word Fence is not ready for Prime time. At least not if your on Network Solutions.

We removed the Plugin. That in the end was the only way to fix our issue. Its too bad the Plugin has potential. But the Author needs to get behind his plugin and be honest with us all!.

  • Hey awack!
I told you to create your own thread because the issue that was being discussed in that thread was not the same issue you’re having. Also, it’s standard practice here in the forums on www.remarpro.com that everyone creates their own threads.

To clarify, I am not the “author”. Wordfence is built by a whole team of people. Wordfence is installed on more than 2 million sites.

There does appear to be some issue with the latest version of Wordfence and the way Network solutions servers are set up. We’re not quite clear on exactly what the problem is yet but we’re trying to figure that out. If you’re still interested in figuring it out, we need to get an error log that shows what is happening. You can email the php error log from your site as an attachment to [email protected].

If you’re moving on then I wish you the best of luck with your sites in the future. Take care and have a good day!

Just a quick update here in case anyone else stumbles on this thread. We have been informed that the issue on Network solutions can be fixed by upgrading MySQL from version 5.0 to 5.6. These instructions were sent to a customer from Network Solutions support:

    1. Log in to your Network Solutions Hosting Control Panel. Go to the Database Manager. Click on the large upgrade button under the MySQL version number. This will begin the update.
    2. You can then FTP to your hosting account and change the Wordfence.bak folder back to Wordfence.
    3. Please contact Network solutions support for further assistance.
