Forgive me if I missed what I thought would be a standard FAQ topic: I’m moving from one WordPress machine to another (both custom hosted servers). How do I do a very simple “export EVERYTHING” then go over to the new server and import it all?

    * Caveat: I’m the system admin, not the content owner. I don’t really know anything about the content itself, thus I really want export * as opposed to doing any sort of logical selection of Galleries, Images, media, etc.

@bruinpress – We do not have a export/import feature set although the following might be of use …

Start with making note all settings for all NextGEN Gallery options.
Use a migration service that will “duplicate” the site to insure you get all of the files from the old server to the new server with special care to also get all of the database tables and not just the default tables of a WordPress installation.

Once the site has been migrated it may just work as is although it is often the case where you will need to use the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options to force the new site to use the new path/routing of the new server (provided the domain remains unchanged … that is a different issue and may require even more underlying work).

Once the above is done all should be working although you may need to go back and adjust the NextGEN Gallery settings based on your notes of the old site’s options.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
