Shareaholic’s Pinterest button stopped working

    Recently, all attempts to use the Pinterest share button have failed with the error “Sorry! This site doesn’t allow you to save Pins.” (they’re talking about my site, https://www.VegasNews.com). I’ve submitted several hundred images with this button but about every six months Pinterest stops working.

    Now, the truth is that I also tried submitting a photo manually using Pinterest’s own button on their site, but that failed, too. I realize that this probably rules out the problem as being Shareaholic, but you guys are very familiar with the Pinterest system and maybe you have some thoughts about what’s happening.

    Let me also point out that out photo submissions work fine to Facebook, Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn.

    Sorry for initially not seeing this question! We believe this to be either a WordPress or Pinterest issue, rather than a Shareaholic issue. The problem has emerged for many websites over the past 2 weeks, including those that are not using Shareaholic. For example here is a recent thread:

    We are trying to get to the bottom of the situation so that we can provide better feedback to you and others who are asking about this. But at the moment we think it is unrelated to the Shareaholic plugin.

    We’ll post any updates as we have them.

    It took me a while but I solved this problem. It turns out that my firewall was blocking IP 54.236.1.11 which is used by Pinterest during the image grabbing process. After I whitelisted that IP everything worked fine. Thanks.
