I’ve gotten over 100 emails in the last couple days with a string of numbers and letters followed by an email address. Each one has a different string and a different email address. Example: 58f78112eef2e [email protected]. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

  • @dnlamoureux,

WP-SpamShield protects Contact Form 7. Just install it and it will automatically (and invisibly) do its job. You can customize the settings if you need to, but most don’t.

Spammers use automated programs (bots) to hammer sites for a number of reasons: Advertising their wares, SEO spam, and for hacking/phishing/malware.

    Hope that helps! ??

Thank you. I will try that.

    You’re welcome…glad to help. ??

Did this work? Me and a few others are now getting hit relentlessly by this bot. Any help is appreciated.

I gave up and got a guy from Fiverr to fix the contact 7 form which was really jicky. Then he installed the above mentioned plug-in. He did some other things for added security which changed the look of the actual form and which I didn’t like. So I reversed that code. If you like, I can give you a link to his Fiverr page.

Sounds overly-involved. Sucks. This was such a reliable plug-in. But yeah, shoot me the link and I’ll check it out.

I’ve had to take down my contact form all-together. It’s getting ridiculous. We’re not the only ones having problems either. If another solution comes up I’ll let you know.

Thanks for responding though. Good luck!
