Adding a Newly Created Taxonomy to a lot of listings already created.

    I am a non-tech newby so please excuse me for this simple question.

    I have created Taxonomy called “USA States” and then created all 52 state names.

    I would like to quickly add the relevant state name to my many hundred listings that i have created that are relevant to each state.

    Is there a way or do i have to open each listing nearly 5000 of them then select the Taxonomy Box USA STATES and then select the appropriate State for this listing?

    The only way I know how to do that in bulk like that would be to script it out via php or if you’re really fancy, using WP-CLI (https://wp-cli.org/).

    Possible that you could do some bulk editing via the posts list screen, what you see when you click “All listings”, but I won’t make any guarantee.

    Other than that, it’d end up being a pretty manual process a this point.

    Many thanks for such an expert reply, appreciated. In List view all listings, i can’t see an option to bulk add a taxonomy. Indeed I am surprised, as a non-tech, as i am sure many other people have created Taxonomy after they have already created many hundred or thousands of listings, i was hoping for a plugin to achieve the aim.

    To script it out via php is way above my pay grade ??

    Welcome.

    I did some quick googling and couldn’t find anything about bulk assignment of terms. I did find some plugins that related bulk creation. Not quite what we need here though.
