• Howdy, folks.

I know this isn’t specifically a WP issue, but it seems to NOT be related to Akeeba and indications are that I have something wrong with my install.

When trying to upgrade Akeeba Backup, I get the below error. Not sure where to begin looking to confirm the location of ‘restore.php’, so I can’t tell if permissions are right.

There was an error communicating with the update package extraction script restore.php. This usually indicates a permissions issue making this file unreadable to the web server or a server configuration (e.g. .htaccess file directives) issue blocking access to this file.

Interestingly enough, updating WP and other plugins / themes is fine. So I have *no* idea where to begin looking for a solution to this.

I hope someone can help. Thanks!

As you use a commercial theme/plugin and need support, please use their official support channel. We feel they are best equipped to support their products.

Commercial products are not supported in these forums. As you are their customer I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.

Send Chris @ Akeeba an email he is really quick at replying. I had a problem trying to update Akeeba and had to do it manually.

JD, I’ll give that a shot, but since I’m going to guess you had the same problem I have, can you point to the solution? I will respectfully disagree with Steve, this doesn’t seem to be an Akeeba issue, it’s probably a permissions problem, which is a WP/User issue probably due to an error I made somewhere along the way – hence asking for support here rather than there.
