Hello, I have a client that has ground their website to a crawl by uploading huge pngs instead of optimised jpgs, however the main source of traffic for the website is from goolge image search in which they rank highly in their niche.

If I use this plugin to replace the images is there any redirects going on so that they do not lose traffic (Woocommerce site so important) please?

Just to clarify I am planning on swapping the existing huge pngs for the same images in optimised jpgs.

    Best regards,
    Angela

  • No, if you use the “replace and don’t change file name” it would just drop in your smaller files and keep the old filenames/links without redirect.

HOWEVER: I can’t recommend serving .jpg files from .png file names, this might lead to broken images.
