GTM, Optimize, and using TNW’s GTM Example Container.
-
Forgive me if my questions are obvious or I’m not understanding correctly, I’m fairly new to using GTM.
Currently I’m using TheNextWeb’s GTM Container https://github.com/thenextweb/gtm and deploying directly in the header/body.
I see your plugin has many similar tracking features built in.
How does this work with the GTM code? Does the plugin change either head/body snippet?
Is this similar to adding tags, variables, triggers via the TNW container or the GTM dashboard?
Is there any specific benefit to using a plugin instead of a managed container like TNW’s to do this?
Also, I saw in another thread that you addressed Google Optimize where you advised the user to add the Optimize tag manually to GTM.
However, Google seems to advise against this: https://support.google.com/360suite/optimize/answer/7359264?hl=en&ref_topic=6197443
it is still recommended that you install the Analytics tracking code with the Optimize plugin directly on the page (as opposed to deploying Optimize through a tag in GTM)….While it’s possible to deploy the Optimize plugin via Google Tag Manager, it will often result in significantly increased latency.
Is this possible while still using your plugin?
