I used duplicator plugin and now the original website (site A) is affected by the “cloned” website (site B), which is hosted as a subdomain of another website.

First, I can’t access the WordPress dashboard of site A anymore; a redirect to the WP dashboard occurs.

Than, many pages of site A are presenting elements of site B, and some pages of site A are presenting error 404.

Can you help me guys, please?

    Thanks,

    Pedro

  • I believe you will need to edit your site B database with the updated url. It likely still has the information from site A in there.

    Hi AJWD,

Thanks for your help. I couldn’t find any trace of site B on database of site A.

The problem is that I can’t even restore the site A because its password doesn`t work. Instead, the password of site B works on WP login page.

    Please, help me!

It sounds like you will need to use phpadmin or its equivalent from your cpanel to change the wp_options table. Make sure the siteurl and home option_value are correct.
How did you deploy the site?

    Hi AJWD,

I used phpadmin but there’s no trace of site A on Site B’s table.

If you type Site A login URL domain.com.br/admin it automatically redirects to site B login page.

Can I send you the true URL here?

    Thank you very much

If you want to send the domains and urls I can take a look.
When you look at Site A in PhpAdmin does the siteurl and home option_value match the correct URL?
When you look at Site B in PhpAdmin does the siteurl and home option_value match the correct URL?
    They should both be different.
How did you deploy the site?
    What host are you using?
    Does it use Cpanel?

    Hi AJWD,

I reached my host provider and they fixed the problem. I use hostgator and Cpanel.

Basically, the site A got two databases after I run duplicator. In one of them, there was site B url on home option_value, as you claimed.
Thank you so much for being so helpful.

    Cheers,

    Pedro

Glad you got it figured out.
