I updated from 2.6.2 to 2.6.3, and when I was done, any changes made after May 2008 were missing. All the posts and pages since then had vanished. I could still access the newer posts by using their direct permalinks, but not on my main page.

I had deleted my config file by mistake during the update, but I had a backup copy of it and copied the settings from there. I’m pretty sure this is what caused the problem, but I would like to know why. This is the first update that hasn’t worked. The others have all been plain sailing.

I fixed the problem by getting my ISP to restore the database and WP Folders, so I’m now back on 2.6.2 and reluctant to try update again.

    Any thoughts/ideas?

    reset permalinks
clear browser cache and site cookies after upgrade
the wp-config.php file had nothing to do with it

Pretty sure I did that, but can’t remember for certain. Thanks for the advice. I’ll try it next upgrade.
