New User Password Email Not Sent But Admin Notification Sent

    Hello Everyone,

    I am having an issue with the confirmation email that is supposed to be sent to a new user with their username and password, which is never sent to them.

    I have read every forum post on the subject searched the web and have tried all the suggested plugins with no luck with everyones suggestions.

    I have my new user registration set up so that I have to manually add new users and I know that the PHP mail function on my server is working. I have tested it and I do get the notification that a new user has been registered but no confirmation to the user containing their login information?

    But just in case it is a problem with the PHP mail function on my server, I have downloaded and tested several SMTP email plugins which I have successfully configured on all of them, as I get the test emails just fine after installing and configuring them. Yet when I register a new user I still only get the admin notification that a new user is now registered, yet no email to the user with the login information?

    The oddest thing is that it was working fine a couple weeks ago and then it just stopped working.

    Does anybody have any ideas on what else I can do?

    Hello All,

    Just an update on this problem that leads me to believe this is a bug in the latest release of WordPress.

    I have two separate websites that both have 2.6.3 WordPress installations. Now both of the are experiencing the problem of no email being sent to the user with their username and password, and only sending a confirmation to the Admin.

    Is anyone else having this problem. I would like to submit this as a bug but I want to make sure it is a widespread issue.

    And of course if anyone has a fix to this please share!!!!

    Oh no, I am setting up a new blog that NEEDS to have multiple users, upgraded to 2.6.3 and I am having this exact same problem — when I create the new users, I get an admin email that a new user has been created but the new user registration email is nowhere to be found. Even when I tried creating new test users for myself (with different email accounts) the emails are not arriving.

    Help please if this is a bug! This problem is so time sensitive for me… I need to be able to create Editor level users and I really do not want to give them all the admin access…

    HI can anyone help me i cant seem to log in to wordpress from my website it keeps saying invalid user name or password or email address not registered and i know i registered it can any one please give me any advice thanks

    Hi all. Newbie here. I’ve got WP 2.8 running, and I get admin emails regarding a new user registration, I even get the new comment notifications, but neither I nor a new user get any confirmation emails for their login details, nor do I or the user get any email relating to a user having forgotten their password. Has this problem been fixed yet?

    I had the same problem… I dont know how to fix it. But there is a way by which you can add new users manually by logging in as an admin click on users and there u can add users manually..

    I think the problem with purely manual administration of users is that I as an admin wouldn’t know if they wanted their password reset. They’d have to know to contact me directly, rather than use the built in functionality. This needs to be fixed properly.

    I am actually locked out of my website. As I was told my password was incorrect so I hit lost password and have received no email. AAAGGGHHHHH! Any help

    Has anyone found a fix for this issue? I’ve got two sites using WordPress 2.8.2 that I am not receiving new user notification e-mails, nor are my users. I have plenty of other scripts that run on my server making use of the PHP mail function that work fine.

    I am also seeking a fix for this issue.

    Every time a new user tries to register to my site, they are prompted to enter their name and a valid email. They are informed that an email with a password has been sent to the email account they provided.

    The new users never receive this email. Anyone know a work-around?

    Wow every one with almost simliar problem yet no solution… I am having same problem of my new registered user not getting any emails.
