Category widget: how to stop them automatically ‘reorganising’

Hi,

In the Write Post page the Category widget automatically places picked categories at the top of the list. This is a problem for me as child categories are being taken outside of the parent category, so it is hard to remember what they are part of and is very annoying. Is there any plug-in or hack for stopping this behaviour?
