    The backups have not been running. I was manually running a backup and refreshed the Settings page – then I got the white screen of death. The site looks fine but I login to a white screen.

    I used FTP to delete the Updraft folder in Plugins and in WP Content and – still the same. Help… now what?

    The error log on the server shows this over and over:
    BEGIN failed–compilation aborted at public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/get-cpanel-quota-usage.pl line 9.
    Compilation failed in require at public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/get-cpanel-quota-usage.pl line 9.

    thanks for any help

    Hi,

    The errors in the server error log are not fatal, and should not cause the issue that you are experiencing. (They mean that UpdraftPlus was unable to access the hosting quota).

    Please could you enable WordPress’ debug mode, by finding the following line in wp-config.php:
    define('WP_DEBUG', false);
    and change ‘false’ to ‘true’

    A number of errors should appear on the white screen. Could you send us a copy of those errors?

    I use Updraft on over 20 sites and a couple of them just won’t back-up. On this particular site, when I tried to backup manually last month, it put the site in maintenance mode and I had to delete the maintenance.txt file. I also increased the php settings (file upload, etc.) and stopped backing up theme files, but that didn’t help. The client has also gotten ‘reaching resource limits’ from GoDaddy a number of times – always when the backup is running. This panics them.

    Somehow things cleared once I deleted the two Updraft folders from the server, and I was able to login. There were no errors shown, I tried debugging, also.

    I think I will find another backup plugin for this site – something just doesn’t work and it hasn’t backed up in months – even manually.

    Thanks for the quick reply, though. I appreciate it.

    I have had my trouble and solved it with another fellows advice ( see thread). It is to use Dropbox. :[ So Simple BUT in your WordPress admin zone on your Site, there is a active sentence telling you you must authorize / authenticate you dropbox account. I think this creates the logical link between your WP and the DropBox account. (one time). Now it puts an UpDraft app file there and voila. so simple and easy and free. DropBox has 2 G’s free account with out hassles.

    Thanks everyone. my first time on your forum and success within 24 hours.
    However I feel a bit dumb. ??
