    Hi

    Does anyone know why when you post a 600×600 image to instagram, it comes out blurry when viewed on a pc? Plugin is set to use original image and no cropping or extending.

    Also when you check the image with inspect element in chrome, it shows the image as 600×600 (natural 480×480) . This is what i don’t get also

    Any help would be appreciated as our images are all originally in 600×600

    What is your API version?
    Have you tried bigger image?

    Latest versions installed. Unfortunately these are product images that are max 600px by 600px so can’t try bigger image. It’s just weird that on the pc, instagram uses a 600×600 image but our 600×600 images are blurry and i don’t understand why it then shows natural image as 480px.

    Can someone please try posting a 600×600 image and then see if its clear on laptop or pc. Also use inspect element tool to see what it shows image dimensions as.

    Would appreciate if someone could test so i can try to narrow down why this is happening.

    I just tried to run some tests. I made several sizes of the same image and then I sent them to Instagram one by one.

    600×600 became 480×480 – https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9X8xwjA8T/
    620×620 became 480×480 – https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9YslbjqJQ/

    650×650 became 640×640 – https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9YEijDTt-/

    800×800 became 750×750 – https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9Y8Emj6ZJ/
    900×900 became 750×750 – https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9W6nZDWh9/

    1080×1080 was left untouched https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9Xr84jFow/
    1200×1200 became 1080×1080 – https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9ZsO5DKcD/
    2160×2160 became 1080×1080 – https://www.instagram.com/p/BR9ZZj-jacF/

    It looks like Instagram internally downsizing images to the nearest fixed number

    So:
    Image smaller then 640×640 will be resized to 480×480
    Image smaller then 750×750 will be resized to 640×640
    Image smaller then 1080×1080 will be resized to 750×750
    Image bigger then 1080×1080 will be resized to 1080×1080
