Shapely companion error upon activation

  • I installed the colorlib shapely theme and it suggests installing 2 plugins.
    The first is the shapely companion plugin and when I install this and activate it – I get the following error:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home3/kearnel3/public_html/wp-content/plugins/shapely-companion/inc/widgets/widget-home-clients.php on line 84

    Is there any way to fix this.

    I need this to work for a client project and it has cost me 2 days work already.

    Can you give me some support with this please?
