Will this work for server that has no DNS pointing to it?

    We have a failover server and my hope is that I can use this plugin to periodically sync the files/database from my live site to the failover server (same domain).

    My plan was to modify my hosts file so that my local machine is pointing our domain to the IP of the failover server, while the DNS is still pointing to the live server.

    Then I would import the file that was exported from my live server to my failover server from my local machine.

    Would this work, or will it only go off the DNS record’s IP?
