• I just installed WP 1.3-alpha-2 on my local machine running Windows XP and everything worked flawlessly.
I want to import my entries from my live blog into here. The live blog uses WP 1.02.
I tried to transfer and import an sql dump from the database of the live blog and it doesnt really work. I get tons of errors on the index.php page.
The way I tried doing the dump was exporting to an SQL file in phpmyadmin from the live blog and then trying to pass SQL queries from that SQL file in the phpmyadmin of the WP 1.3 blog.
    Didn’t work.
Is there a better way of doing this?

  • There would have been some database changes from 1.02 to 1.3, which may be part of the problem. Once you have imported your database to your 1.3 install, try running UPGRADE.PHP to see if that helps any. I would think that it would fix up your database.
That’s my best guess, anyway. ??

    Thanks Moose!
    That did it!
I now have a backup install of my blog on my local machine. Will make it much easier to upgrade and try out features before changing the live install.

You’re welcome, Vohiyaar! Glad to hear that you are up and running.

yeah that is a nice way to keep a backup… just i wished WP incorporate SQL restore and backup with the default installation. will solve hell lot of problems…

    Sushubh,
Have you asked for this directly?

there is already a hack/plugin available ?? thats what matt would say to me ??
maybe WP devs can start a userpoll or something on the things that SHOULD be incorporated in the default installation. ??

Sushubh: Just out of curiousity, why would you want it built in to WP when it is a database function (mysqldump) and already built in every MySQL administrative program?
