    Hello,

We run a community-oriented platform using Buddypress that allows other to contribute blog posts. I have made the Publicize settings “shared” to allow authors and editors to publicize posts that they write. Authors write their posts and then an editor schedules them for publication.

It seems that the posts in the ‘News’ Category are shared via Publicize but those in other categories are not.

Do you have any ideas for how I might address this?

    Thanks,

    Grant

It seems that the posts in the ‘News’ Category are shared via Publicize but those in other categories are not.

By default, Publicize doesn’t exclude anything; all Posts will trigger Publicize, and the only way to exclude some posts would be to uncheck the Publicize boxes in the post editor, or use a filter to exclude specific categories.

Are all posts available under the Posts menu in your dashboard, or are they created via Custom Post Types, thus appearing in other menus of your dashboard?

If all posts are from the ‘Post’ Post Type, could you check and make sure that the filter I mentioned above isn’t used anywhere in one of your plugins?

Let me know what you find!

Thanks for your response, Jeremy. All posts are under the Posts menu and I haven’t added any filters on any plugins, unless this is built-in to some of them.

I thought it might be a users issue as I am using Buddypress and Wang Guard but I checked the Users tab and the users I want to publish are set to ‘Author’ and whitelisted on Wang Guard.

Looking again, I see that it must be a user issue as the post written by this user (an author) and in the ‘News’ category was not published to social media:

Is there anything I could troubleshoot in terms of users?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the extra details. It seems that this post was published to your Social Media accounts properly:

Could you post links to other posts that weren’t sent to your Social Media accounts?

    Thanks!

Yes, I realise it was a user issue. Some of the users were only contributors so their posts could not be shared.
