    Hey,

Firstly, love this theme and the support from Ben! I thought I’d post in the forum instead so if anyone else has the same issue they’ll see it!

When I share my link https://www.iambenmunro.co.uk to facebook, it’s just a plain link (no image) as there isn’t on I presume. Is there a way to set an image so that when I share my homepage link, there is an image?

I know, when I share a post link, the image/header image is within the link (if that makes sense?)

I’d like an image to appear when I share my link to my website. I’m sure I’ve seen an option to add this but I fear I could be imagining it!

    Thanks,
    Ben M

    Hey Ben,

I have a blog post here with some tips on this. Either the Facebook Thumb Fixer plugin, or Yoast SEO (if you’re using it already), can help you set a specific share image for posts and pages.

    Hey Ben,

Thank you! I’ve had a look but I can’t see anywhere to put a general image so when I share https://www.iambenmunro.co.uk on social media it uses that image. I think, if I used a header on the website it would use this one but I like the theme as it is (if that makes sense?)

Any further help would, of course be appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Ben

Got it, I see what you mean. Yoast has settings for this in the Facebook tab of the Social menu: https://pics.competethemes.com/2T0z1v3o1l05

The Frontpage settings allow you to set an image for your homepage, and there’s a setting for a default image you can fall back to on any post/page as well.

One more tip while we’re on the subject – on posts/pages, you can also use a separate image than the featured image to be shared on facebook: https://pics.competethemes.com/1M3M2f391429. I like to use a version of my featured image with a text overlay for social sharing.

    Hey Ben,

Thanks for the links and info!

I’m not sure I have the social setting on Yoast. I know I do when I’m composing a post. I don’t seem to have it in the settings to add the front page info? Is it only available on the pro version?

    Thanks,
    Ben

It’s in the free version. Can you check in the Plugins menu if you have version 4.4 installed?

And to clarify, the last screenshot is taken from the Social menu pictured here: https://pics.competethemes.com/2l321s3a0c3W
