• This is where the problem can be seen

    What led to this:
I went into design-> widgets to change the WP-Polls mode from “Display Random Poll” to “Do NOT Display Poll.” This was all it took to make the entire sidebar disappear from the index page. I also changed the positions of the widgets by dragging “Meta” up a few notches.

    Problem:
Ever since, no matter what, the sidebar simply does not show on this page. However this is the only area where this problem occurs. This does NOT happen when viewing single posts and other pages.

    What doesn’t work:
    Deactivating WP-Polls plugins.
    Uninstalling WP-Polls.
Removing all widgets nor adding them back in.
Resetting Polls to show as before.
Changing the positions of widgets in their original order.

  • Try the default theme. Setting the Poll to Do NOT Display, will not crash your sidebar, I just tested.

Tried it just now. Didn’t work. How bizarre ??

    Thanks, though.

How about re-add the polls widget?

Did that, too, haha. Didn’t work. It looks like the damage is permanent. Should I reinstall wordpress to the server?

how about uninstalling WP-Polls and installing it again. I think it would be easier.

It’s up there on my list of “What didn’t work”.

I thought THAT would at least work, but it didn’t. Uninstalling WP-Polls did nothing to repair the damage, nor did installing it again.

Ops I miss that out, in the case you should try install a fresh install of WP in another location rather than reinstalling the existing one.

Thanks, GamerZ. I’ll work on that ?? I appreciate your help.

I’m having the same problem, but it is only in IE7. Everything looks fine in FireFox. I’m new to WP and just started two nights ago, so short of doing a fresh install, is there anything else that can be done?

If I have to do a fresh install, I suspect I will lose the little content I have added. Is this correct?

Yeap, if you do a fresh install, your data will be lost. You might want to try other themes first like the default theme to see if it work first.
