Hi there, I’m new to the plugin and it has definitely helped me improve my scores. However on GT I get the Defer Parsing Message and Optimize Images as my main issues. The images I am working on. But the main JS offender seems to be something that Autoptimize is creating? Or am I wrong there?

I have the CDN part of Autoptmize enabled, as well as WP CDN Rewrite. Not sure if that’s best practice but seems to give the best scores!

Any thoughts appreciated.

don’t “force JS in head” and you should be OK ??

Thanks for the amazingly fast reply! But I have now disabled it and:

515.9KiB of JavaScript is parsed during initial page load. Defer parsing JavaScript to reduce blocking of page rendering.

I was also advised to untick ‘Also aggregate inline JS?’ but doing this seems to break the site (no text appears)

One of the (possibly wrong) reasons I had Force JS in head enabled, was to get round this error:

Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content

Which currently shows this file as the issue, am I not sending fonts through?

Also, I get a Prioritize visible content warning:
None of the final above-the-fold content could be rendered even with the full HTML response.

I appreciate some of these may be completely unrelated to the scope of Autoptimise. But any insight appreciated

forcing JS in head does not help to eliminate that remote CSS-file from benig render blocking.

re. “prioritize visible content warning”; you’re using “inline all css” but you have way to much CSS for that, consider switching to “inline & defer” (more info in the FAQ).

That’s great thanks for the help. I actually already signed up for the Custom CSS Power Up and have tested it, thought this way might be giving me slightly better results but I could well be wrong!

the power-up allows you to specify rules for different criticalCSS to be used depending on the context (URL, page template, conditional tag, …).

Hi there, I’m using inline and defer generated by criticalcss.com and everything is mostly working well. However I get the following error on GTMatrix. Any ideas?

Hi Theo;
For the font-files; by default AO does not put fonts on CDN because this can cause the fonts not to load if CORS-headers are not set correclty. Tou can either change the URL in the critical CSS (back) to the non-CDN variant (by configuring your CDN plugin not to act on fonts maybe) OR try to force AO to put the fonts on the CDN with this code snippet;

add_filter('autoptimize_filter_css_fonts_cdn','__return_true');

for the untoldpng.png; that’s not set in the CSS, but HTML and is not related to AO, but due to;

I guess your CDN-plugin only changes img src but not data-altlogo and that you have JS harvesting the data-altlogo value and loading that URL.
