    Hi,

When a New User wants to register, is it possible to allow him to set a password instead having to wait to receive the password by e-mail?

I think that the procedure of receiving the password by e-mail is rather slow, demotivating and confusing since the e-mail leads to an standard WordPress windows to reset the password that gives the option to login going to the WordPress user dashboard instead than to his ads management dashboard or to the add ad page.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much for your attention.

    Best regards.

    Hi again,

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the site where I am using the WPAdverts plugin is a site of a WordPress MultiSite network.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much for your attention.

    Best regards.

Hi, right now the best you can do is add this code snippet https://github.com/simpliko/wpadverts-snippets/blob/master/custom-registration-email/custom-registration-email.php to your theme functions.php file, then when user registers he will receive an email with his username and password (so the step with resetting password is skipped).

    Hi Greg,

Thank you very much for your response. This will be ok by now.

Do you plan some improvement in the future?

Thanks once again and best regards.

Hi, i am planning an add-on that will allow to manage emails sent by WPAdverts but right now this is not a priority so i cannot tell when this will become available.

The Theme my login plugin allows you to let users set a custom password during registering.

I think a better way is to hide the WPAdverts form for unregistered/not logged in users and to require them to register or to login before to publish a classified. In this way an user will be able to set a password instead having to wait to receive the password by e-mail.

@iuriem this workflow is possible if you install some third party membership plugin that will allow to hide page with [adverts_add] form unprivileged (not logged in) users.

@gwin Exactly! This is what I mean!

    Hi @lazyym,

I tested the “Theme my login” plugin but I have not found the setup to let users set a custom password during registering. Perhaps it is not possible with WP Multisite.

In any case, I know it should be possible since I am using other plugins in my WP Multisite setup, that allow it.

    Thanks a lot anyway.

    Best regards.

    Hi @iuriem,

In fact, one of the features that I like the most of WPAdverts is that it allows visitors (non registered users) posting adverts. This is very convenient for many users who simply want to post an ad and do not wish to register or find the registering process too complicated.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion anyway.

    Best regards.

In TML, not a multi-site, to enable custom passwords, in General settings tick on “Enable Custom Passwords”. And that’s it.

I’ve set wpadverts up now to moderate non-member ads and allow member ads. With TML I can also moderate member registrations. My site is localized. I also have an ip register which I can check quick and make sure they’re who they say they are and actually in the region they claim. A little bit of maintenance, but worth it to help keep out the scumbags.
