When trying to update from Wordfence 6.3.0 to 6.3.1 (using the automatic update method in WordPress dashboard)
All I get is: ‘couldn’t remove the old plugin’
Why does this happen every time we have to update Wordfence Security?
What must we do to update this plugin successfully now and in the future?
Why does it only happen with this plugin?
Very frustrating! Please help. I’m not an IT guru!

    Hi,
Could you please share with us the full error message you got? a screenshot would be helpful too.

Most probably it’s a directory permissions issue, did you try to uninstall the plugin and re-install it again through WordPress Dashboard?

    Thanks.

Thanks for coming back to me.
But I must report that somehow the plugin was automatically updated. I didn’t do it. Wordfence must have done it, perhaps because of the hacking (RxR HaCkEr) we have been experiencing.
I’m very pleased to have the plugin up and running again, thank you.

Yeah, most probably you have “Update Wordfence automatically when a new version is released” option enabled in (Wordfence > Options).
