cannot upload images

i am trying to upload an image in the “Add media:” part of Manage>Posts.
i click the Add Image icon, then “choose Files to Upload”, From Computer, then it says, in red, “HTTP ERROR” and “an error occurred in the upload. please try again later”.

any ideas?
