• Hello,

is it possible to add support for Yoast SEO? That’s the only one I am missing for this nice plugin. Because I have got a problem with these three plugins in combination:

When editing the SEO for a WooCommerce product, there is this misbehaviour:
    Normal slug for “My Testproduct”:
    mydomain.com/product/my-testproduct

    1. Click on Yoast’s “Edit snippet” Button
    2. Edit (or only click) in meta description
    3. Save product
    New slug is:
    mydomain.com/product/productmy-testproduct

When editing the SEO for a normal blog post, there is this misbehaviour:
    Normal slug example (with categories):
    mydomain.com/team/support/mister-t

    1. and 2. as described above
    3. Save post
    New slug is:
    mydomain.com/team/support/teamsupportmister-t

With every repeat it’s added another time, so when editing the WooCommerce product three times, the result would be:
    mydomain.com/product/productproductproductmy-testproduct

For normal blog posts there is another thing:
There the URL at the Yoast SEO preview (when Editing is closed) after one edit is:
    mydomain.com/team/support/team/support/teamsupportmister-t
instead of the “correct” new one:
    mydomain.com/team/support/teamsupportmister-t

For WC products the correct new URL is shown, e.g.:
    mydomain.com/product/productmy-testproduct

When editing a Portfolio item (supported by the theme), I didn’t get this misbehaviour.

I think this results of the fact, that (with activated “Custom Permalinks”) in Yoast’s “Edit snippet” area the URL slug is also completely editable (without “mydomain.com”), so that the complete slug (without slashes) is saved as the new “single post slug” after the directory structure.

PS: The only solution for now: Simply clear the slug in Yoast’s SEO area (if it’s not customized) so that it’s rebuild by WordPress.

Hi @apfelbiss, First of all sorry for replying you late as I didn’t get the email of your query by WordPress.

As per my understanding you are saying that whenever you are trying to edit the SEO there is some issue with Permalink.

Please provide the following details to me:
    1. Please share your post Screenshot.
    2. When you edit the SEO, whether the Permalink Slug has been changed or the Yoast changes the Permalink in the Snippet Preview?
    3. If your Permalink has been changed. Like: Permalink showing /product/seo and after editing the SEO permalink becomes /product/productseo/ So, when you view the page what URL you can see/product/seo/or/product/productseo/`?

    Thanks for you cooperation.

    Regards,
    Sami

    Hello.

    1. This is the situation at the beginning with correct URL, when there was no SEO editing:
    https://img4.picload.org/image/roplpioa/wp_custompermalinks_yoastseo_1.png

    2. After editing the SEO, e.g. the meta description:
    https://img4.picload.org/image/roplpior/wp_custompermalinks_yoastseo_2.png

    3. After a second editing:
    https://picload.org/image/roplpiaw/wp_custompermalinks_yoastseo_3.png

The URL shown at “Permalink” (and at Yoast SEO slug) is the URL as it is actually seen in the browser when viewing the product/post.

With every new SEO edit the URL gets longer and longer, when not editing the SEO slug (e.g. deleting it so that it’s auto-generated by WordPress)

I don’t understand your second question. Maybe it’s already answered with the screenshots?
Relating to your third question: The URL after a first SEO edit for the “SEO” product would be “/product/productseo/”.

    Hi Apfelbiss (@apfelbiss)

Thanks for your feedback. AS per my understanding this issue seems to be with Yoast. As the Permalink Updating when you try to edit the anything in Yoast SEO. So, i suggest you to report this issue on Yoast Support. So, They can resolve your issue or provide some setting guidance to you.

Let me know what Yoast Support say about the issue.

    Thanks,
    Sami

    Hi @sasiddiqui

We are experiencing the exact same issue as @apfelbiss for a site we are helping with.

We contacted Yoast and they let us know your plugin was installed.

    1. Is this the URL editing blog on the post when your plugin is enabled?

    2. Is i possible to get a list of all URLs that are being modified by the “Custom Permalinks” structure.

    3. Are there any changes that can be made to your plugin to fix the issue? or will Yoast be the one to modify their plugin?

    Thanks! — Steven

    Hi @eskwire,

I have not worked it out. But, i thought that this was the YOAST issue. AS, Permalinks is only broken when you add/edit anything in YOAST for the post. So, i have not worked around it yet.

IF you have worked around it so, please share the complete info you get till now.

    Regards,
    Sami Ahmed Sidiqui

Thanks so much for the reply!

I submitted it to Yoast and they were able to confirm the issue and have submitted it to their development team.

The only work around that we know of is to disable one plugin or the other.

I think I was able to find all of the redirects in the mysql database in a post meta table (something like that)

Yoast says they will notify me if it is fixed. Which could be anytime if ever. ??

    Thanks again! — Steven
