restoring theme settings

I did something to my site that undid a lot of the theme customizations. I have backups made before the changes happened, but I can’t figure out how to restore from them. I’ve tried importing an older version of the options table through phpmyadmin and copying over the wp-content directory, but no luck.

What should I try next?
