When I test a purchase, the link in the Purchase Receipt emailed to the customer doesn’t work. I get an error message from Firefox saying the file isn’t found. I’m sure I must have done something wrong in my configuration, but not sure what.

In the attachment details (when uploading the file) I have been linking to media file rather than embedding media file. Could that be it?

I also just added on the SSL certificate that Paypal required, but all my links have been updated to https. I’m really hoping you could help me.

(I also tried to read your suggested Read Me First For All The Information You Need document, but got an error message that the page wasn’t configured correctly.)

Sure thing! This was the email I got back from someone about it.

“I’m thinking this may be cache related. Please clear all WP Super Cache caches and then deactivate the plugin. Then clear your browser cache. Do another test purchase and try the links again. Do they work then?

:If not, go to Downloads -> Settings -> Misc (tab) -> File Downloads (section) and change your download method to Redirect. Test once more. Any change in behavior then?”

Dealing with the cache didn’t work for me so I changed the download method to Redirect and that worked.

    Thanks for posting this Kate.

We were using Really Simple SSL on the site in question and an update to that today resolved some of the problems people are having with downloads too (if they are using that plugin).

Switching sites over to SSL has been a real nightmare of little gotcha’s for our commerce set-ups and membership sites.

    Happy Trails,

Interesting! I was using that same plugin. I wonder if I can now go back to the other download method. Are you able to get it working?

This is my first foray into commerce set-ups on client sites, so I’m flying blind and working the Trial and Error method. ??

I’ll let you know here when I’m sure things are working smoothly Kate.
