Then there might be another plugin on your site which is causing the conflict. Just to check it – could you please deactivate your other plugins to see if that removes the issue? Please also clear your cache then.

Thank you for the piece of advice: I deactivated my other plugins and I found out the Wpdevart Facebook comments plugin was causing the issue. If I deactive the Facebook comments plugin, the like and share buttons are indeed in French. My only problem is that I really need this Facebook comments plugin, so if you have an idea on how to solve the conflict, I am all yours..
