    Hello again.

One of the things we’d like to do with the calendar is have a section that only we (staff members) can see. What we’re trying to do is have an assignment calendar. I have several photographers and writers that get assigned to things and we’d like to see who is doing what. Is that possible to do?

Basically, we have a calendar of events full of shows, concerts, events etc. The public sees and can interact with that, but we want to have a section for just us to see.

Any ideas? Thanks again in advance.

  • Hey @intheloopmagazine,

Thanks for using The Events Calendar!

I think you’ll find some valuable information for creating a private calendar here and here.

Let me know if you have any questions or issues!

    Best,

Hi @shelbelliott thanks for the info. It is a pretty good event calendar. I’m really liking it. Still have a few bugs in mine, but hope to get those worked out soon.

As far as the private calendar goes, I see what you shared and have used that for certain private events, but what I need to do is somehow make every event listed have a public view and a private view of the same data or information. Or a why to make a second level of the same event not seen by the general public.

Here is what I’m trying to do.

We are a group of photographers and writers. We posted this calendar of events for all our public, fans, show seekers etc to see what up and coming to town via concerts, live events, public appearances etc. That part is great. We can do that, what we need to do next is somehow make it so we can assign these events, shows, public appearances to each other. So we can see who, if anyone is assigned to covering these events.

Ex: U2 is coming to town. They are playing at Soldier Field on June 3rd 2017.

Everyone can see this event. It’s public. We want everyone to be able to see all that basic info. But how can we make it so it can be a “staff” or “employee” calendar? Something that would show all this info, but also have a section or highlight area that states: This show is assigned to John Doe as the Journalist and Jane Doe as the Photographer.

Is that more clear? Sorry I can’t get this in writing as clear as it is in my head. ha

    Thoughts?

    Or…

Is there a way to make a simple monthly view of our events, like the public view here…

    https://beintheloopchicago.com/events/2017-02/

That we can color code or highlight as “this show is still available for journalists” or “sorry, this show already spoken for” then when you glance over the monthly view, you can clearly see who or what is taken or available. Then if you click on that event, it brings up that events info BUT has a spot for “staff” info. Like who is assigned to it etc.

Again, sorry for going on with this, but it really would be a great help for us. Thanks again.

    Hi ,

Thanks for following up with some more information on what you’re trying to achieve here! Unfortunately, this type of public/private content functionality isn’t a built-in feature of our plugin. However, you may be able to achieve this effect using either some degree of customization or a third-party plugin such as this one. (Note that we have not tested this plugin, so I’m afraid we can’t make any guarantees as to its functionality!)

The good news is that you can, at least, add color coding to The Events Calendar very simply–we recommend the third-party add-on The Events Calendar Category Colors for this purpose! Combined with a custom or third-party solution for hiding or showing staff-only content, you might find it a great fit for your needs!

I hope that helps to get you started here! Thanks again, and let us know if there’s anything else we can do to assist! ??
