multisite image paths, post-migration

So I migrated a single site into a multisite and everything seems great with pages and posts content, but the images are missing from posts and the media library. I moved the wp-content/uploads/… folders over to the new server and placed them in the wp-content/uploads/sites/16/ folder, 16 being the new site id in multisite. Newly created blog posts and media uploads are working fine but all the pre-existing image links are looking for the images at wp-content/uploads/yyyy/mm/image.jpg

I must have missed a step somewhere but I’m having a hell of a time sorting it out as I’m not familiar with databases or phpmyadmin. Any ideas?
