OK, so not sure about how to go about this, here’s my situation:

We’ve been using the Events Manager plugin for a number of months on a theme that did not previously have any kind of events management capabilities. The most recent update of that theme fixed some other problems we were having but also added very basic events support.

Once updated the theme events management started interfering with the events manager plugin.

I think that changing the permalink slugs could help to solve it, however both Events Manager and the theme use “Events” as the Dashboard menu link name. I find when the plugin is activated is that portions of the theme’s events manager loads in with portions of the Events Manager plugin.

I think that if Events Manager had a different name in the dasboard,(ie. “Events Manager” instead of “Events”) that would probably fix most of my issues.

Is this possible to do easily or in the next update?

Client would possibly be willing to pay for Events Manager Pro to get this done.

  • I am not part of support but poke my nose in here every now and then…
    and found your topic interesting.
You are probably have more knowledge about these things than I do..

And not to belittle you knowledge or your experience…
I imagine your Theme is using its “events” as a custom post type… as also is this plugin.

In your Admin area… hover over your Themes link to Events… and note the URL that appears in what ever browser you are using.. (Firefox bottom of browser)..
And do the same for this plugin… are the links the same… ie: do they both look like this (sort of)
    mywebsite/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=event

If they do then they are both using the same Custom Post “Name” and I imagine your problem…

On a test site of mine… I changed the Permalinks for this plugin.. but that didn’t change the links in the Admin area.. ie: the Taxonomies for this plugin which are their Custom Post Type.

If they are both (your Theme and this plugin) using the same Custome Post Taxonomy “Name”… ie:
    mywebsite/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=event

    That looks like your problem.

If they are actually different Custom Post Taxonomy (Name)… you can change the links in your Admin area using a plugin I use.. which is quite good.

before proceeding with that… do the checks if the Theme and this Plugin are using the same Custom Post “Name” ie Taxonomy.

p.s. as an avid music fan I checked out the Sarasota radio station and they play good music and it is a beautiful website.

you can try to rename custom post type name under events-manager/em-posts.php
